Duel Events often happen inYu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, having players duel each other with either pre-constructed loaner decks or any decks they’ve made that follow the event’s restrictions. Although Master Duel has been out for a while, it still seems lacking in events inspired by the variousYu-Gi-Oh!anime series, even when they have plenty of series to choose from.

For those first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! through the anime, this has been disappointing since anime-inspired events appear so much less often than they should. Luckily, we have some suggestions to make events more interesting to anime fans.

10Duelist Kingdom Cup

An event inspired by Duelist Kingdom wouldn’t go by the same rules, or lack thereof, but would be limited to cards from around that era, so in terms of booster packs, it would be any cards released from Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon through Pharaoh’s Servant, with several omitted cards due to not being introduced until the Battle City arc.

An event like this would highlight many classic cards played less often, with many Normal and Effect Monsters no longer useful in modern play. Players could acquire mates, icons, duel fields, and accessories based on Pegasus' various cards fromthe Toon archetypeas a reward for gaining a specific amount of wins or points.

9Battle City Cup

Considered by many to be the peak of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series, the Battle City arc introduced new cards and characters and had them playing a version of the card game that more closely resembled the real-life card game, although there were still some exceptions.

While the Egyptian God cards and decks of Yugi, Joey, Kaiba, and Marik would be included for an event like this, it could also feature cards from and support for Seeker’s Exodia deck, Espa Roba’s Psychic Power deck, Arkana’s Dark Magician deck, Weevil Underwood’s Super Insect deck, String’s Slifer deck, Mako Tsunami’s Umi deck, Bakura’s occult deck, Mai Valentine’s Amazoness deck, and Ishizu and Odion’s Egyptian-themed decks.

8Virtual World Cup

The first filler season of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series was the Virtual World arc. It saw the main characters trapped in a virtual world created by Seto Kaiba’s former employees, The Big Five, his adoptive father, Gozaburo Kaiba, and Gozaburo’s biological son Noah.

While an event based on this arc would not use theDeck Master mechanicit introduced, it could feature cards from and support for Duke Devlin’s dice-based deck, Tristan Taylor’s mixed deck, Tea Gardner’s Dark Magician Girl deck, Gansley’s swarm deck, Crump’s Penguin deck, Johnson’s Fusion deck, Nezbitt’s Machine-type deck, Leichter’s control deck, Noah’s Creation and Spirit decks, and Gozaburo’s Exodia Necross deck.

7Waking The Dragons Cup

The Waking the Dragons arc is the second filler season of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime series and saw Yugi and friends take on a mysterious organization known as DOMA, who use the rule-breaking, rage-inducing, and soul-stealing Seal of Orichalcos Field Spell.

An event based on this arc would feature The Seal of Orichalcos and related cards, the three Legendary Dragons of Atlantis and all their associated Fusions, as well as cards from and support for Gurimo’s Warrior-type deck, Rafael’s Guardian deck, Valon’s Armor deck, Alister’s Machine-type deck, and the improved decks of Mai Valentine, Rex Raptor, and Weevil Underwood.

6Movie Villains Cup or Trial

A Master Duel event basedon the antagonistsfrom the three Yu-Gi-Oh! movies could be an entire event, but due to how rarely their decks are used could lend itself well to a Duel Trial. This event would feature Anubis' Pyramid of Light deck from Pyramid of Light, Paradox’s Malefic deck from Bonds Beyond Time, and Aigami’s Cubic deck from The Dark Side of Dimensions.

As an additional incentive for players to participate in this event restricted to rarely used decks, new mates, icons, accessories, and more based on cards featured in each movie could be gained through gaining enough wins or points.

5Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Cup/Genex Tournament

The Genex Tournament that took place during the second season of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime series featured students from Duel Academy and new characters from around the world. Since the tournament featured a handful of anime-exclusive cards, there would have to be changed to which cards are usable unless they did an event representing the entire series instead.

While an event like this would feature cards from and support for the decks of mainstay Yu-Gi-Oh! GX characters like Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale, and Chazz Princeton. It could also feature improved versions of Chumley Huffington’s Beast deck, Velian Crowler’s Ancient Gear Deck, and more.

4World Racing Grand Prix

The World Racing Grand Prix is the second tournament arc of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds anime series, the one featuring the cool yet ridiculous concept of dueling on motorcycles, and featured three-person teams from all over the world competing against each other.

While a Master Duel event inspired by this tournament wouldn’t include the racing and team mechanics, it could still have the various cards and additional support for those featured. This would consist of cards from the Stardust Dragon, Junk, Red Dragon Archfiend, Blackwing, Rose and Rose Dragon, Power Tool, Signer Dragon, T.G., Noble Knight, Unicorn, Meklord, and Aesir archetypes.

3Female Character Cup

The main female characters in Yu-Gi-Oh! are known for not usually getting the best writing or representation, even though the first one, Tea Gardner, technically has a 100 percent win rate out of the three duels she had in the Duel Monsters anime series.

An event focused on these characters could feature Fairy-type and Dark Magician Girl decks for Tea, Mai Valentine’s Harpie Lady and Amazoness decks, Ishizu Istar’s Egyptian-themed Fairy-type deck, Alexis Rhodes Cyber Lady and White Night decks, Akiza Inzinki’s Plant-type and burn decks, Tori’s mixed Xyz and Fairy-type Xyz decks, Zuzu’s Melodious Deck, and Skye’s Trickstar and Marincess decks.

2Best Friend Cup

Most Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonists have a best friend whose dueling skills aren’t quite as good as theirs but are still competent enough to achieve significant victories. Sometimes, the TCG counterparts of these characters' decks are better than the protagonists or much better than how the anime presents them.

An event like this would feature cards from and additional support for Joey Wheeler’s various decks featuring Warrior and Beast-Warrior-type monsters, luck-based cards, Red-Eyes cards, and Time Wizard, Syrus Truesdale’s Roid deck, Crow Hogan’s Blackwing deck, Bronk Stone’s Gearspring deck, Gong Strong’s Superheavy Samurai deck, and Theodore Hamilton/Soulburner’s Fire Warrior and Salamangreat decks.

1Rivals Cup

Rivals are some of the most essential characters in the various Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series. Likely thanks to Yugi Muto’s longtime rival Seto Kaiba, who fans still seem to remember more than rivals in any other Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series.

An event featuring rivals could have cards from and additional support for Kaiba’s Dragon-type and Virus decks, Chazz Princeton’s Ojama and Armed Dragon deck, Jack Atlas' Red Dragon Archfiend deck, Reginald “Shark” Kastle’s Shark deck, Kite Tenjo’s Galaxy Photon deck, Sylvio Sawatari’s Yosenju and Abyss Actor decks, Declan Akaba’s D/D/D deck, and George Gore/The Gore’s Gouki and Dinowrestler decks.
